Dear Saint Series, it's been a while since we've talked. When we first met we hit it off so well, everyone was a fan of us together, my mom even called just to tell me how much she enjoyed you being around. I'm writing to ask if you'll come back; we've got a couple of friends (Rob & Tania) who are newlyweds and I had an idea for a beer for them. I was thinking all Canadian Pilsner malt to give it a dry and grainy flavor profile that is clean and stays out of the way of... ...wait for it... ...an all Amarillo hop-bill, giving it big notes of ruby red grapefruit, pink starburst, watermelon rind, and hints of freshly juiced peaches. Since it's such a special event, we'll ferment it with Vermont Ale Yeast for all of its fruity and juicy hop esters, its creamy residual body, and its ability to turn hop bombs into juice bombs, and hopefully Saint Monroe into straight up citrusy fruit juice. This is a beer I've wanted to make for ages and hopefully Rob and Tania love it as much as we love the support and friendship they have given us since the day we met them. Will be waiting to hear back; I miss you.

I like the fact that this one is a little different for me on the nose and taste. It has a slightly sweet, pepper-cracker hoppy aromatics to it. Taste follows with a peppery bitterness on the swallow. Not the biggest fan of Amarillo, but this one was pretty good

Crowler canned 2/28/19, consumed 3/9/19
Pours clear gold, small finger+ head, low retention, good bands of lacing. Looks nothing at all like the picture on their website.
Juicy aroma of grapefruit and melons. I'm not that fond of standalone Amarillo hopped beers, but everything is there for those that are.
Taste follows, pretty sweet with a med/heavy feel and decent level of complementary bitterness. Doesn't have that creaminess and full body of a NEIPA because, well, it just isn't.
Overall, definitely a nice regular DIPA, but I thought I was getting a double NEIPA from the pic they have on file. Reminds me of Revision's Amarillo Revenge. Not one of my favorite hops standalone, but this is still a solid beer.

By far my favorite DIPA from them. This one blew me away from the first sip. I think this was the first solo Amarillo hopped beer I have ever had, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Huge melon and peach notes on the nose and taste. This beer hides its ABV ridiculously well. Mouth feel is a little thin for a NE style DIPA, but that is just nitpicking. Fantastic beer from my favorite local brewery.

definitely one of the best beers we had here, a bigger ipa, hazy and heady, with a super juicy tropical southern hemisphere hop complexion, seemingly driven by nelson sauvin, there is a ton of that white grape and orchard fruit character to it, and a sort of sweet oily element rather than a bitter one, like hop honey or something, just delicious! notes of kiwi and lime are also there in the nose, more of a lemon and lemongrass thing in the flavor, more herbal, even the bitterness here is herbal, sort of green tea-like in some ways, and really very good. fluffier base, but not huge for its strength, it actually is rather light and delicate and drinkable for something called double ipa, and it doesnt show its alcohol strength at all until it warms up a bit. it would be cool to to a baby version of this one, something in the 5% abv range that would permit all day sessioning of it, because the hop profile is unique and amazing, almost addicting, but this will hit you pretty quick. smooth going down, clean and summery in the finish, really awesome sort of no coast type ipa. very well made beer!
