Everyone has heard that one country song, about vacations in Mexico, fishing in clear waters, and drinking beer on the beach. While you might loathe the puka-shell necklace and designer ripped denim vest, you can't help but dream of sipping that cold crisp Lager as you change the radio station. Hammock Beer is just that cerveza; a Baja inspired Lager taking a classic Mexican Lager grain bill and brewing it with a pinch of Motueka hops. A classic yeast strain results in a dry and clean Lager that showcases the mild graininess and delicate lime-blossom notes of the Motueka hops. You don't need to live in a mansion in Nashville to know how perfect this beer is to quench that longing for some Baja sunshine. Leave the bedazzled jeans at home, throw your feet up, and relish the pint of sunshine that we call Hammock Beer.

Another beer from the Summer of 2020. Woof, that is a terrible review (the review itself) that occurred her already. Kinda surprised BA allows it to remain.
Anyways, pours a clear golden yellow color, great clarity, looks the most familiar of all beer appearances. 1/3" white head. Aroma pops, and I bet the hoppiness is why a baby palate might avoid this and want something that tastes more like water. Moteuka gives the beer that down under dank breathiness along the lines of white grape, but then there is the spicy pepper kick of Sabro that is totally the addition I've always wanted in a Mexican lager. I've had some Moteuka and Sabro that didn't pop, these definitely did.
What a beautiful taste on top, man, there ain't much here in terms of malt beyond what might actually be a corn and barley combine. The yeast isn't the biggest, but there is enough lagery sulphur to be a positive. Of course the dank weed, bellpepper, corn, white grape and gooseberry hop aspect is just delicious with lager level carbonation. Yet another Fieldwork beer I hated that I loved so much.

When I ordered this, it was described as an attempt to make a high quality craft version of a Mexican lager ala Pacifico. That sounded appealing, but there was absolutely nothing special about it. I think I might have rather had the Pacifico, to be honest. Nothing justified the bar-pint cost.
