We'll let you in on a little secret, when we write our beer descriptions we often think about a classic movie or television show and theme the description after it. Unfortunately we can't think of one right now, so we'll do our best to eloquently bring you the carbonated wildfire we call "Streets Ahead." Attacking the senses like an impromptu and chaotic paintball match Streets Ahead IPA pairs Citra and Amarillo hops together as well as two antithetical best friends living together for the sake of sitcom high jinks. Huge tropical and juicy aromas emit like cathode rays drawing your attention away from everything else around you to focus on the light, juicy, and pungent glass in front of you. While many IPAs leave you feeling disappointed and empty like you just watched an episode of Glee, this one will tickle your fancy and make you feel as lucky as someone who just stumbled across a marathon of Cougar Town on TBS. If you don't see how Streets Ahead IPA is an exquisite example of these succulent hops, if you don't know that Reading Rainbow is the greatest show in TV history, and if all of these references seem bizarre and out of place, then you're streets behind.

This was yet another beer that I traded for, but wasn't sure when as there wasn't any date on the bottom of the can. Like many of the beers that also fit that bill for me, this was the first from it's respective brewery that I was able to have here. This wasn't a bad beer but like so many of it's kind from this neck of the woods, it was pretty unremarkable and not particularly memorable...

The pour to this was pretty typical - cloudy, muddled, and off-goldenrod. Enough head topped this off but that settled quick and there was very little lacing left behind as well. Lots of citrus, cactus, grass, and deep earth in the nose as the taste was quite acrid, sharp, and deeply bitter as the taste followed suit. Slick and moderately bitter, this came across as just a bit too heavy on the palate even though this still went down relatively easily.

Not a lot of booze here and this did have an underlying tropical feel that came through once this fully warmed up. Sure, I like mango and papaya but those seem to be in every IPA now and the basic malt didn't add or detract from the flavors present in this beer. A bit more of other flavors and a livelier carbonation would have upped this a notch or two. IPA fans won't be disappointed here but I was hoping from a bit more from this brew...

First time trying a Fieldwork brew and so far, so good. When that murk poured out of the can my rbf was automatically replaced with a grimace, thinking this would be another one of those brews that sacrificed that awesome spicy hoppy bite all in the name of making the brew more juicy and aromatic.

I was wrong, however, as this new Ekuanot-infused edition of the brew does not shy away from imbuing this brew with lupulin powers to its bitter finish; tropical fruits clash with a mighty powerful resinous force from the beginning to the very bitter end; instead of reconciling these two opposing flavors into some sort of prissy / half-assed harmony, Fieldwork just lets them go at it until the drinker decides which one complemented the beer best. Biscuity malts are present toward the end, accompanied by some pleasant hop burn.

Medium-light bodied, clean, with some moderate stinging carbonation. I loaded an entire 16ft truck, drove 300 miles all on 3hrs of sleep today. I'll revisit this beer / review sometime in the near future, preferably when I'm not jetlagged or sleep-deprived.

Can from 08/04/17 release into a tulip.

For as much as I enjoyed Destination Unknown, this one brought the average score back to normal for my palate. Hazy orange yellow with limited head, retention, and lacing. Nose is best attribute for my preferences, heavy citrus, some grassiness and earthiness in tow, mango and nectarine notes once it warms. Taste is all citrus, finishes with mild bitterness and plenty of astringency that lingers. Lighter bodied, medium carbonation, slight tongue tingling from astringency.

It's a good but nothing great beer for my palate and preferences.
