Had to break out a cellared can for the A's finally getting a playoff win.
Holy crap wow! Intense is an understatement. Thick peat smoky scotch barrels with lots of leather, this beer fits its name and label description to a T. Definitely let it warm all the way up - really much more flavorful and easier to drink the closer it gets to room temp.

Black with burnt brown edges and a faint tan ring of fluid carbonation.
Holy fuck. Leather and peat are no joke on the nose. The leather actually seems to contribute a bit of a smoothing effect on the peat, but it just can't squash it in any way. There is a little peppery spice and acidic coffee as well.
Taste is a wild bunch of thick, troublesome weeds in the garden, with a touch of roast and tons of peat. Shit! A hint of chocolate tries to poke in, but fails miserably.
Overall this is bitter, sharp and obviously scotchy, with a medium to full body. It's something else...but clearly, for most reasonable brewers and consumers out there, yet another cautionary tale of aging your beer in peaty scotch barrels.

Wow, this is really strong. It's very leathery tasting, if that's even a term. It could really use some age on it to mellow it out some. Good thing I bought two, one is going in the cellar for at least a year. It's really too much right now. Tastes like chewing on a piece of leather that was just burned in a fire. To me the scotch is overpowered by the leather taste. Maybe the salt is causing that imbalance, I'm not sure. It's exactly what it says it is, but I'm just not sure yet if that's a good or a bad thing. Will re-visit next year.

So this is exactly as described. If you think you will like a peaty, leathery stout with a nice body, then this is spot on for you. If that doesnt sound like something you would like, avoid this beer. I was somewhere in the middle. I appreciate the flavor, but my goodness the scotch is strong
