16oz can, undated, poured into a 14oz snifter glass. Enjoyed on 8.23.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a golden straw color, orange and copper hues that has a light chill haze, but fairly clear with a faint bubbly head, decent retention that yields spots of lace. The aroma is pleasant, lots of citrus, bitter rind that almost comes across as candied as it warms, pine, grassy green hops, lightly herbal with some more floral qualities as well and some soft pale grain. The flavors are good, tangy citrus, weedy and herbal hops as well, more piney and resinous than the nose suggested, light pale bread, mineral water and a bit of candied fruit. The mouthfeel is good, lively medium body, nice bubbly carbonation that coats well and finishes with a crisp and dry bite.
Verdict: A good IPA from Fieldwork. The lemondrop and simcoe hops perhaps aren't the best partners, but this still works well as a west coast IPA. Lots of citrus peel, clean flavors resting on a comfortable malt backbone, nicely done.
