Canned 4/27/18. Picked up fresh and in crowler form from Fieldwork.
Look: Near pitch black in color. About a fingers worth of a tan head formed which dissipated rapidly. Moderate lacing on the glass.
Smell: This smell is great. The chocolate is evident, along with a pleasant sweetness to the beer. The roasty malts is present as well. This beer smells sweet, warm and inviting.
Taste: Follows the nose. Full of roasty malt chocolate flavor. The lactose is presented very nicely. As the name says, this beer tastes really similar to chocolate milk. The chocolate and lactose blend very well to make an enjoyable offering. It is on the sweeter side, but I am enjoying it.
Feel: Medium in body and weight. Lower levels of carbonation. This beer feels nice and soft, and very easy drinking.
Overall: This is an awesome beer. As far as milk stouts go, this may be my new favorite. It is sweet, but it is very tasty. It is a treat to drink (literally) and I am very grateful that I picked this up and tried it. The 6.4 abv is also very nice. I am nearly done with this crowler, and it isn't overwhelming. Cheers!
