This was the 12th beer I had at the Bistro's 21st Ipa festival held on April 14, 2018. I dunno, for a Fieldwork ipa, it was around average, but that is still really good overall.
I guess they make a few different single hop versions of this, I believe based on taste this is the Chinook one. Pours super clarity golden, 1/4" white head. Aroma hits the familiar old school grapefruit and green tree feel. C hop to the max.
Taste, much in the same vein, you get all that grapefruit peel and pine forest bitterness all over it. Dry body, light body, typical west coast genre of old. Good crispness to it, they got the carbonation slightly elevated and appropriate. This beers niche is for those old balls types (me) that like an older C hopped pale ale, but don't want all that sticky and hefty crystal malt or double digit abv or triple digit ibu levels. So while it might not be this brewery's best effort, it is a pretty good retro look at a beer.
