It's a new crop year for hops, so it's time for some of our beloved beers to take a long walk off a short pier. We love Orchard Street IPA, but our Amarillo is a little different this year, so, in comes a new contender to fight for a place in our rotating series of IPAs. 22 Amarillo Avenue exudes the characteristics of its namesake hop with notes of ruby red grapefruit juice, peach skins, and generic brand fruit punch. Mellow malt character, slight hints of hop-induced confectionary sweetness, and a full pillowy body compliment this modern legend.

This was the 2nd beer in a flight purchased in Berkeley. First ipa in the flight. Amarillo is primarily an aroma hop, should be interesting to see a single hop beer with it. Pours yellow, 1/3" white head, somewhere in between clarity and hazy, slight haze I guess. Aroma wasn't as punchy as I expected. I guess maybe with them using it for bittering as well, they thought they wouldn't need as much aroma dry hopping additions. Nonetheless, it was still delicious dropping plenty of stone fruit (peach/nectarine) notes as well as papaya/vague tropical note.
Taste was easy going, hitting the expected grapefruit and sweeter citrus notes. Light pale toasted malts out of the way. At the end of the day I dug it, they leaned hazy in execution, but went with a hop that is more akin to west coast usage. Nicely avoided the acidic NE haze gut feeling. Enjoyable. Would buy if canned and reasonably priced (sometimes they like $30/6 packs).

Pours a beautiful hazy, golde sun drenched orange..its definitely got some good tropical notes to this IPA..mango,papaya,and a little Tang from when we were kids. followed by a bit of a bitter bite of green/pine finish. Its got a solid body to it, smooth and crushable overall. The piney afterbite has some slight pineapple notes to it, but the tropical notes remind me of ripe mangoes mostly....another great FW release...smooth and tasty as always

Really nice IPA here - the aroma evoked freshly picked nectarines. The flavor pretty much followed, a lot of tropical hop flavors, nectarines, and a nice bright and crisp hop flavor.
