Poured from the can into a snifter glass. Can is from the February 2018 release - aged 9 months in rum barrels. Pours a dark brown with no head/carbonation. Nice amount of viscosity around the glass. Smell is delightful! Dominant smell is coconut, followed by coffee, hints of cinnamon and chocolate - and just enough character from the rum to remind you that it's there. Mouthfeel is rich, smooth and decadent - very velvety! Taste is exquisite!
Overall - one of the best beers I've ever had!!! Very few beers achieve the type of mouthfeel that I really seek out in a beer - and this one nails it! So rich, smooth, velvety, decadent...I can go on - but I think you get the point. The adjuncts that went into this beer (chicory, cane sugar, cold press coffee, and lactose) all dance around the palate in perfect harmony; each distinct - but none of them overwhelming. A true pleasure to enjoy!!
