Smells like the ghost of birthday cake frosting. It's malty like a lager, and doesn't recall the smell of weed at all, which is odd for a West Coaster. The bitterness is spread out evenly over the palette, like butter folded 'just-so' into Madeleine batter.

This was my 8th beer sampled at the Bistro's 22nd annual ipa festival held during a stickball tournament on April 13, 2019. Pours like a good looking west coast beer, yellow and bronze with admirable clarity, 1/2" white head. Aroma went with Citra, sweet citrus.
Crisp pine like notes from the middle of the road bitterness of the Simcoe hop crush throughout the life of the beer. Just alternating oranges and pine trees going on this one. Behind that is the usual light and dry malt body, just barely there. It really perked my senses up after having a few hazies before it. Even the grassiness to it in the mouth feel was still bitter and dry. Its a relatively simple beer with two hops and just a light pale toasted grain bill. Fieldwork definitely has everything ipa nailed down pretty well. Sure, they're expensive, but I wouldn't hesitate to spend $4 on a can of this if given the chance someday.

Such a great nose! Equal tropical (papaya and citrus) with pine, subtle dank undertones. Taste holds mostly the tropical aspects, others fade to the background. Plenty of astringency on the finish lingers on the palate, fighting with the crisp aspects it strives for. Another solid modern West Coast IPA from Fieldwork, but I can see where not all palates and preferences will enjoy it. More for me I guess.

West coast IPA
Simcoe forward with aromas of sweet fruits, some citrus, papaya, and pine.
Love the nose on this. Easy drinking and nice crisp finish.
Another winner.
