So after I wrapped up a 6 beer flight, I wasn't ready to go, so I ordered a pour of Directions Unclear. What a bummer, all 6 beers before it were better. Can't believe this is a collaboration with Beachwood. They're both usually so damn good.
Anyways, pours a brass and gold like color with almost 1/2" of white head and a moderate amount of haze to it. The aroma wasn't kicking. This isn't normal for these guys, they're both in the well respected dry hop community. I'm not familiar with the Southern Passion hop, and I know Idaho7 tends to replicate a lot of the familiar non proprietary C hops for bitterness. The Mosaic just doesn't come out much here in the nose.
Taste, wow, its actually kind of hot and boozy. Surprise MF! There is plenty of hot grapefruit notes on this one, for all the talk in the commercial tug job about the tropical saturation of this beer, it just didn't come out for me. Just didn't have the desired hop flavor, malt dryness or fruity nose. Instead I got a lot of brassy boozy heat. While an average beer overall, it is way below average for Fieldwork and Beachwood. They can't all be zingers.

On tap at local Fieldwork.
L: Honey gold in color. Unfiltered appearance but not as hazy as other offerings from Fieldwork. Looks like a WC/NE hybrid, leaning more on the WC side. A finger of head, no lacing.
S: Up-front peach, apricot, bubble gum, lemon and mango. Mild booze presence tinges the nostrils. Embodies classic Fieldwork grass-forward aroma.
T: Bubble gum, citrus and stonefruit. Somewhat dank and resinous with herbal complexity. Booze is evident on the back, keeping the beer from greater potential.
F: Light in body, light to medium in weight. Low carbonation. Slight booze feel, slick in feel but not creamy or pillowy.
O: A noble and worthy offering. A great brew and one I am grateful to have tried. Cheers!

Crowler canned 2/19/19, consumed 2/23/19
Not a whole lot to look at, pours just hazy amber color, tiny head that quickly dissipated, almost no retention or lacing.
Aroma is the best part, bright, fresh juicy notes of melons, citrus, and peaches.
The taste and feel are solid, juicy, yet unspectacular. Feel and body is more like a new age, low bitterness West Coast IPA; doesn't really have that smooth and creamy body of a lot of their hazies.
Overall, solid DIPA, but really not a hazy NEIPA.
