Playing with milk sugar was fun for the industry at first, adding a creamy and silky texture to Stouts and the like, until it stopped being fun. No one asked for a Lactose Lager, and no one should have been given a Lactose Lager. In all honesty, we don't even know if anyone has made a Lactose Lager, but we are guessing someone has, and for any reason other than alliteration it is just a step too far. To push back on the Lactosification of beer we stripped all of the milk sugar from our Parfait sour recipe, let the beer dry out a bit more, but added in every bit as much fruit and vanilla, so those that are lactose intolerant, or just intolerant of lactose, can enjoy one of our Parfait beers without the guilt or gastrointestinal regret.

Lightly hazy amber-red with a short bright white head leaving cobweb lacing on the glass.
Berry cotton candy leads a frothy, lightly sticky body with a little seedy and skin forward bitterness in the commendably dry finish.

So look, sometimes I'm wrong. Here we combine a Fieldwork (expensive) brewery with a pastry kettle sour style (dislike) of a beer. So I thought, not likely I dig on this. Popped this w Jesse for the Raiders game week 1 Sep 2020.
Pours a purple and red like color. Its pretty, and its got some very respectable clarity to it. Pink head in the 1/4" range at its peak, poor retention. The aroma is indeed vanilla and berries. I wonder how they got the name for this beer?
Taste is sweet and sour, but a very respectable diversified berry quotient going on here. Vanilla is plentiful, but not over the top. Shit man, I actually like this. Largely captures a big fruit/berry vibe without going super sour or acidic, those levels are quite nice and helpful introductory wise to the style. Light body but enough substance to carry that weight.
I didn't want to like this, but alas, I did. I'll buy a 4 pack of it next time even though it will prolly set me back around $30.

Sweet tart vanilla raspberry aromatics on this one! Taste follows with a berry punch, tart finish. This is not as good as parfait series, but decent and drinkable!

Excellent head production, and fantastic retention - very surprising for a kettle sour. Lacing is excellent as well. Body is a deep, dark purplish red, completely opaque and pulpy in appearance.
Nose is sweet and creamy. The vanilla really stands out, and the raspberries and blackberries are sweeter than they are tart or sour.
Flavor is similar, albeit with more tartness - which adds an odd contrast to the smooth and sweet vanilla. They don't perfectly jell together. Almost no real souring agents present, which could be due to the impressive freshness of this can (2 weeks old). Almost all the puckering comes from the berries, with only very mild tannins and just a hint of vinegar on the finish. I would have to think this develops more of a sour bite with time. A bit of rustic hay and wheat up front.
Creamy, full bodied feel - which is a little odd for a 6.8% ABV kettle sour, but by no means off putting. Very mild but noticeable pucker.
Some of this combination doesn't perfectly work, and I would expect more sourness, but overall this is still a really delicious brew and very enjoyable.
