King Citra has reigned over our kingdom of Double IPAs longer than King William the 4th reigned over the United Kingdom; which is no small task considering the maniacal frequency we have rotated our hoppy beers over the years; and the only way we could seek to improve and not replace was to immortalize King Citra in a double dry-hopped form and inject it with a healthy dose of Citra Incognito and Cryo to concentrate all of what this Octavian hop can do sixteen ounces at a time, splashing up intense notes of orange candy wedges, fresh mango juice, passion fruit jam, papaya, lemon zest, and hints of peach puree.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours hazy deep golden orange honey amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Slightly zesty ripe citrus, light floral notes, quickly overtaken by a wall of ripe tropical and stone fruit, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Juicy tropical and stone fruit, mango juice, peach, apricot, guava, pineapple, passion fruit, and a hint of melon, ripe citrus, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, and lime, a touch resinous and grassy, biscuity ever so slightly bready malt, and plenty of caramel sweetness.
M: Full body, moderate carbonation, soft and chewy.
O: I wish I could do a side by side comparison of King vs Emperor Citra to really see how they compare. Going off my notes and memory, I think Emperor smooths things out a bit more and brings a bit more body, while still showing off everything Citra has to offer. Overall I think I prefer the edge that King brings, but they're both great, and standing alone this is a ridiculously smooth powerhouse of a Citra DIPA.

Sunset orange capped by a finger of bone-white head; decent retention; sparse lacing. Aromas of orange Starburst, lemon peel, mango, and pine. Flavors follow w/ additional nuances of Orange Julius, sweet bread, and tropical fruit. The body is somewhat dense up front, but gives way to a soft, somewhat bitter, dry finish. Excellent.

Poured a light murky orange from can into teku. Head poured about 1/4” and lingered in the glass for quite a bit. Nose of citrus fruit, papaya, guava. Medium bodied beer with high carb. Sticky mouthfeel. Overall a solid beer from Fieldwork.

Can into an imperial nonic pint.
L: Yellow orange murk juice, 1 finger of white medium density head with good retention and left limited spotted lacing.
S: Potent nose, tropical fruit and subtle citrus, passionfruit, papaya, guava, and mixed citrus.
T: Follows the nose well but with more citrus prominence. Finishesc with moderate bitterness, some astringency, and a lot of acidity, acidity lingers stinging the tongue/palate.
F: Medium bodied with medium-high carbonation, tongue stings from the acidity.
O: Think this may be smoother with less acidity prominence in a week or two. It's a solid beer, but at this ABV I'd rather have King Citra for my palate and preferences.

Sweet orange juicy citrus and hoppy citrus-dank nose on this one! Aromatics didn't jump out at me as I was expecting. Taste follows with a juicy and hoppy, orange citrus bitter finish. This lingers a bit on the back of the throat. This is tasty and has a juicy mouthfeel, but it's a little thinner than the mighty King Citra is for my palate. I mean, this is really good...it just fell a bit short of my high level of expectation.
