It's impossible to put into words just how much we love a Smoked Helles Lager. With its bright, pale, and glowing appearance alongside a refreshing Lager effervescence; Hellbound & Down, just like every great Smoked Helles, throws your senses through a loop when that all of those classic German Lager expectations get rained on with delicate smokey notes of beechwood smoked barley straight from Bamburg. Still every bit as crushable as a classic Helles, but with an addictive smokiness; layering in flavors of french baguette, mildly sweet barley, sage blossom, honey biscuits, smoked bacon, tobacco leaf, and oak staves. Balanced, complex, delicious, sessionable, this beer has it all and it's probably all we're going to be drinking till it's all gone.

Half pour. Cider colored, clear with moderate head. Slightly smoky aroma. Sweet grainy brew, grassy bite and a mild to moderate level of smokiness. Rich mouthfeel. This is really well done and quite delicious!

Clear light amber to dark gold with a short off-white foam head.
A very mild smoke pairs with a wonderfully delectable, darkened cornbread or sorts, accented by a touch of almond and a little wheat.
The medium, slick but round body has a fine carbonation and finishes semi-dry.
Shit, this is delicious.

A beautiful beer that shows off some serious brewer talent. A base helles that is richly malty while keeping a lean, clean body is accented perfectly by a perfect kiss of smoke. Super drinkable, could even appeal to people who don't typically like smoke.
Beautifyl golden amber color, but the head is loose and soapy and very short lived.
Nose is muted, mild floral and bread dough notes.
Taste is lovely. Malt depth that is balanced by an herbal hop note accented by a bitter note of char. Like a whif of charcoal smoke. Tilts the perceived bitterness a bit closer to a pilsner in my opinion. Very enjoyable.
Clean and crisp beer. Eminently drinkable.
