We are so very lucky to live in a world where a lot of the most amazing and pungent and beautiful hops on earth are grown in New Zealand and not, I dunno, let’s say Kankakee, Illinois. While we have yet to make the trek to select these hops in New Zealand, we have been fortunate enough to travel to cultural meccas like Las Vegas and Indianapolis to rub New Zealand hops at the Craft Brewers Conference. Both years we were blown away by Superdelic hops. Yes it sounds like a new weed strain that someone is selling in the parking lot of a Phish show, but it is no dankasauras; instead this is a hop that completely soaks its targeted beer in notes of juicy mango, sweet orange, cloudberries, peach nectar, golden raspberries, Tampico Citrus Punch, and candied pineapple wedges. We’ll make it to New Zealand one of these days, but in the meantime we’ll be warming up our hands and getting ready to rub Superdelic whatever paradise the BA chooses for the next CBC, whether that’s Cleveland or Little Rock.
