I tried this at the brewery and was very impressed. It poured an opaque dark with thin tan head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of earth and roast. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with roast and peat presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a solid beer.

This is a damn good porter. I have enjoyed better porters but this one was tasty enough to bring home a growler. Very deep notes and smooth to the palate. The flavors popped well and left enjoyable lingering notes. Highly recommended.

This was definitely the best brew I was able to try here (9 sampled).
Doesn't look great, to be honest. Watery ring is present around the edges - lots of light cuts through as it's clear.
Nose is a typical porter - notes of roasty malt, some chocolate.
Flavor is pretty nice - definitely a sweet porter, lots of burned coffee notes that work but aren't perfect (or would seem off elsewhere).
Feel is pretty nice, full, well rounded, great carbonation. Definitely the best they had on tap when I was in.

Look - dark almost like coffee with a small head that doesn't last long.
smell - sweet and smooth
Taste - freakin awesome - see below! Heavy full bodied. This is a sipping beer, not a chugging beer.
feel - just a tiny little bite of hops on the front side, with an incredibly smooth sweet finish.
Overall - GREAT! one of my favortie beers.
Big Ugly Brewing has created THE porter by which all other porters are to be judged! From the very first drop I have loved this beer. Im not sure if its the beer getting better, or my big boy taste buds are becoming more refined. In fact, I have made converts with this beer of others who would not normally have enjoyed beer that is other than mainstream. I do not like hoppy beers. This beer has only a touch of hoppiness, but is more than balanced with a smooth malty, almost molasses taste. Also - note that the ABV is higher than those sissy beers so you only need a small growler fill for the perfect amount of consumption at one sitting.

Poured a black body with minimal head and lace. Aroma is mostly roasted malts, possibly even burnt (they smell burnt) with hints of coffee. The vanilla and chocolate notes in the beer are present but the roasted malts dominate and this is a mostly dry, heavy beer that is more stout than porter.
