Very enjoyable beer. Poured from a crowler obtained at the brewery into a pint glass. Dark brown color with some yellow and reddish light coming through. Small, frothy tan head with less than average retention and minimal lacing on the glass. aroma was pleasant, mostly toasted malt. Flavor was very good, bready malt with kind of a hefeweizen yeasty aspect. Mouthfeel was rich, very smooth with a slight alcohol "bite", just enough to let you know this is a fairly big beer. Delicious and true to style.

 

Poured a body so brown that I swear it was black with no head. Hints of yeast in beer but mainly burnt and roasted malts. There is a touch of sweetness, more like banana and clove like they used some German hefe techniques, and touch of breadiness, but mainly the malts are burnt and roasted and beer finishes dry and slightly boozy.
