From the bottom of the can: "CANNED ON 01/25/2024 11:03:30 MOTHER PUFFER"
Appearance: The body is black and it has a medium-sized fizzy tan head. It has mild head retention which lasts for a short while until it fades out to a thin creamy textured tan ring around the edge of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma: It has a bit of a peanut aroma with a hint of what smells like chocolate. The aroma is pretty good but very mellow.
Taste: Up front there is a charred flavor and a bit of cocoa. There is a light bit of peanut character with some more cocoa towards the middle. More char towards the back of the tongue. The char flavor is pretty good but it really doesn't fit in with the rest of the beer.
Mouthfeel: The beer has a medium body which borders on light. It has a finish which is semi-dry and doesn't really seem to fit with the base Porter style. Double-checking, the label does state that this is a "Peanut Butter Porter" but it feels like it finishes too dry for a Porter. It would be a really good body for a Dry Irish Stout, and it would be at or near world class for that style but it misses the mark for this beer.
Overall: There is text all over the label in different fonts so it's difficult to tell what the name is versus what an ingredient is. It states "Marshmallow" along with "Puff" and "Peanut Butter Porter" then "PEANUT BUTTER PORTER WITH THE SAME NUTTY GOODNESS PILLOWED BY MARSHMALLOW COMFORT." I am not sure where marshmallows came into play here because it doesn't taste like marshmallows or the vanilla they are usually associated with. This might sound like a strange comparison but there are cheeseburgers and there are pizzas, and there are people who make cheeseburger pizza. This beer feels like a cheeseburger pizza that was made by a person who can't make either, but tried to combine them.
