Keller Pils, the next entry in our #backtobasics series, is smooth, dry, refreshingly simple and yet surprisingly flavorful. Brewed with Pilsner malt, Halltertauer Mittelfrueh hops, and fermented cold, Keller Pils is our take on the classic unfiltered German lager. The delicate Pilsner malt sweetness combined with the moderate hop bitterness result in a beer that is perfectly balanced and dangerously drinkable.

Traded for this a while go but I'm not sure when as there wasn't anything printed on the bottom of the can. This was the first beer that I had from Weldwerks and I found it to be quite enjoyable! It's not often that one can obtain a German Kellerbier / Zwickelbier and based on this, I wish that other brewers would give this style a go!
Nice pour to this as the liquid was a bright goldenrod as well as being a but muted, but not cloudy. Tons of soft, spongy head topped this off as it was quite lively and long-lasting. A fair amount of lacing remained even though most of it was along the back of my pint glass, in the middle. Grass, wheat, white chocolate, soft hops, and bright Plisner malt dominated in the nose as the taste burst forth with quite a bit of life. Not overly grassy, light, or skunky, this felt like a Hefeweizen or a Belgian Witbier but with less body and a bit more sweetness and juiciness to it. Very smooth on the palate as it went down easily, but not mindlessly, as the body was balanced the carbonation was quite lively!
Session beer? You have a winner with this one as a bit of fruit cocktail and apricot juice emerged once this fully warmed up. Really impressed with this and how fun it was as this was *not* a typical PIlsner by any stretch. Those looking for a summer beer with less hops, more body, and a taste off the beaten path would be wise to seek this out. Surprises like this are always worth the effort!
