When we managed to get our hands on some freshly emptied 12-year Jamaican rum casks, we knew we wanted to do something special with them, so we resurrected one of our most-requested draft only variants-- Malibu Medianoche. After aging this batch in the Jamaican rum barrels for more than 15 months, we finished the beer on more than 1.5 lbs/gallon of toasted coconut and raw coconut, along with Madagascar vanilla beans, resulting in a rich, complex, dessert-like beer that evokes island life as much as it does fall in Colorado.

Ended up drain pouring this one. The color and feel is awesome, but friend and I just couldn't handle the sweetness. I've enjoyed plenty of sweet beers, but this one was simply too sticky and overpowering for me.

Drain pour, which was very disappointing considering how thicc and delicious it poured and looked. Was nothing less than sun screen.

poured from a 22oz bomber into a snifter. pours black with virtually no head. smells is rum heavy with some chocolate and coconut sweetness underneath. taste is, again, very heavy on the rum. if you like rum barrel-aged stouts then this is a good thing but in this particular case i find it distracts a bit from the adjuncts. mouthfeel seems to be a tad thinner than other medianoches i’ve tried. it’s not thin, but not as full bodied as i’d like. overall, not my favorite noche but rum barrels are tough.

650 mL bottle. Inky black. Smells of rum, coconut, fudge, and booze. Tastes of fudge, coconut, strong rum. Not sure which is the strongest flavor. It's very sweet and very boozy. Heavy, slow to drink. Yikes. I had a tiny pour and it was too much.

Very dark appearance with slight tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a nice rum and coconut combination. Taste is a slightly sweet run and coconut combination.
