Murky bronzed orange, bubble ring. Aromas of tart passionfruit and blood orange with soulful papaya and soured wheat, with a pinch of sugar. Taste follows the nose in almost every way, hints of star fruit, a dash of vinegar and lemon linger in the background. Has a certain effervescence and tropical refreshing feel to it. The wife liked it

CAN: 16 fl oz pull-tab. Canned 04/30/20. Weldwerks collaboration with Speciation Artisan Ales.
"Brewed with Papaya, Blood Orange + Passion Fruit Purees and Dry-hopped with Sabro. Contains Lactose." "Sour wheat ale." 7.1% ABV.
Served cold into a tulip.
APPEARANCE: Dull orange copper body. White fluffy head ~4cm in height. Head retention is good for the ABV at ~8 minutes.
AROMA: Rife with fresh fruit aromatics, promising genuine juicy Blood orange, unctuous papaya, mango, and spritzy passion fruit. Scintillae of coconut and pineapple from the Sabro.
The lactose sugar sweetness is noticeable but not unwelcome per se.
Promises a fresh tasting fruited wheat ale with a nice hop profile but hardly any sourness or bacterial flavour.
TASTE & TEXTURE: Barely sour at all, but it's got fair acidity. Smooth, refreshing, medium-bodied, surprisingly easy drinking and approachable for 7.1%, wet, well-carbonated.
Its spritzy fresh fruit puree flavours are wonderful but this really needs more tartness and sourness to accentuate them. Sabro's tropical fruit medley and subtle coconut flavour is nice but could be turned up to better effect.
Balanced...I always fear lactose sugar will make a beer too sweet but in this case it's just about right, though I do suspect the lactose sugar sweetness is somehow muting any bacterial sourness this otherwise might employ.
OVERALL: A likable sour wheat ale that would probably be better off without the lactose sugar. Flavours like blood orange tend to play very well with wheat, but the wheat is difficult to taste beneath the 2-row and lactose, and this lacks the bold sourness it needs to really showcase the blood orange flavour. Far from on par with something like Anderson Valley's Blood Orange Gose or even the earlier batches of Redlands' Blood Orange Wheat.

Canned 2 weeks ago.
Pours hazy orange with an off-white head.
The nose is orange juice and a borderline artificial pina colada note that reminds me of Inca Cola (if you know, you know). Hints of passion fruit too.
The taste is similar. The blood orange is the most discernible ingredient. There are also notes of grapefuit, passion fruit, and coconut. Less over-the-top than that sounds. Minor bitterness and bread.
The mouthfeel is medium for the style. Low carb.
Overall, pretty good. Definitely a fruit salad but relatively balanced. The coconut note is vaguely off-putting to me.
