$2.50 USD for the single can at Weldwerks.
"Dry Irish Stout." 4.3% ABV.
AROMA: Specialty chocolate malt, carafa, black patent malt/dark malt sweetness, dark cacao bitterness, roast.
Not coffee-redolent. True to style, there's no overt hop aroma.
Could be roastier by the sound of it.
Aromatic intensity is moderate. Promises a tasty balanced Irish stout that ticks all the boxes needed for the style.
TASTE: Roast/carafa. Deep chocolate malt. Obvious dark malt sweetness/black patent malt.
The roasted barley is the heart of the beer, and it's delicious. It's a simplistic beer, but its balance is impeccable...nails the harmony of chocolatey sweetness and roasted barley bitterness any great Irish stout needs to.
TEXTURE: Smooth, creamy, dry, light to medium-bodied, well carbonated. A bit thin despite being a filling brew for its low ABV.
OVERALL: Ludicrously drinkable. One of the best Irish stouts I've had in the last year or two, rivalling some of the better expressions of the style I drank regularly while living in Ireland. A must-try beer from Weldwerks in my book and easily the best Irish stout brewed in Colorado for my money, but that said as good as it is I don't know that I'd pay $10/4 pack given Guinness Extra Stout is of comparable quality but it is substantially cheaper even as an import...pricing doesn't affect my rating, but if this were a more reasonable $12/sixer I'd definitely buy this beer regularly.
B+ (3.89) / VERY GOOD
