Chocolate Covered Pretzel Stout is a lot thinner than expected. It acts more like a session and has bitter chocolate mixed with salty malt. It is not too sweet or pastry like. A good light stout.

I didn't get much pretzel. I was unfortunately too excited for this because I love chocolatey stouts, this was okay, the sweetness hit even harder about halfway through the 2nd one I had. I'd probably give it another try though. I want to like this one.

Dark brown appearance with a nice tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a malt with a touch of chocolate. Taste is a pleasant chocolate and malt blend.

L:. Pours a brown black with a small white tan head that dissipates rather quickly and leaves no lacing.

S:. Sweet milky chocolate with notes of roasted malt and a touch of bread, don't really get pretzels but smells fairly sweet.

T:. Milky sweet chocolate and roasted malt, a touch of ash, don't really get pretzels but it is still solid.

F:. Slick cola like mouthfeel.

O:. Don't really get pretzels but still a solid if somewhat sweet stout.

Ordered from Tavour. 16 ounce can. Chilled and poured into an imperial pint glass.

Look: dark brownish almost black. Small finger and a half tan head that dissipates to zero very quickly. No lacing at all. 2 minutes into drinking and it looks like colored water.
Smell: sweet, processed baking chocolate (we took out some hot fudge from our fridge, the processed Hershey’s stuff... like that but really light), roasted and malty. Almost get some notes of booze, but it is only 6.4%, so...
Taste: sweet on the front end, roast in the middle (very mild), trailing notes of chocolate fudge, roasted chocolate malts and very flight vanilla... Bren gets a hint of salty pretzel but too far a stretch for me...
Feel: pretty light, light tickle carbonation that dies quickly, no booze or drying like some stouts... thin for a stout.

Bren had high hopes because we like stouts, she loves chocolate and I like pretzels... together with a sweet milk stout that is labeled chocolate covered pretzel stout we thought that maybe this could be a good one... but its kind of meh... drinkable for a stout but don’t expect what they advertised. Cheers!

Can. Light tan head. Lace. Dark brown color.

I have no idea what is in this, but this isn’t very good. I’d never guess it to be chocolate covered pretzels. It has the chocolate but that’s it. Some caramel. Not sure what else I get out of. Tastes like Dr Pepper.

CAN: 16 fl oz pull-tab with a brown, beige, and gold label. Purchased as a single can at a beer store in Colorado.

"Milk stout." "Brewed with pretzels, milk sugar and chocolate fudge." 6.3% ABV.

Served chilled into a stem-snifter.

APPEARANCE: ~3cm head, khaki in colour with a gilded hue to it. Looks frothy, creamy, and inviting. Lasts ~1 minute...head retention is exceptionally poor.

Body colour is predictably an opaque black.

AROMA: Chocolate, chocolate malt, dark malt sweetness, milk/lactose sugar sweetness, buried roast.

I don't detect pretzels or chocolate fudge. At least aromatically, this fundamentally fails to evoke the titular chocolate covered pretzel(s), but it does promise a drinkable milk stout with a chocolate flavour.

TASTE: Doesn't taste like a chocolate covered pretzel, no, so one could say it's a failure given the brewers' intention.

Artificial chocolatey flavours (not genuine cacao nibs, just chocolate syrup/flavoring). Dark malt sweetness. Unnecessary milk sugar (which tips it way off balance towards the sweet side when accompanying the rich malty sweetness and sludgy chocolate flavours).

Not tasting any pretzel flavour at all, whether you mean in a German baked bread sort of way or in a salty sense...pretzels are my favourite food and this tastes nothing like them.

TEXTURE: A bit sludgy in its thickness. Heavy and full-bodied on the palate. Sits heavy in the gut. Hides its ABV well beneath all its sweetness. Smooth, wet, unrefreshing.

Not bready.

OVERALL: It's a pricey mediocre milk stout with no pretzel flavour whatsoever. Any milk stout fan in Colorado would do far better to stick to Left Hand's Milk Stout...that beer bests this in every way and is a hell of a lot more affordable.

Forgettable mediocre work from Weldwerks...
