16 oz. Can
MARZ
Canned On: 08/15/25

Poured into a Tree House glass a pretty nice clean/clear golden amber color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which also leaves a pretty nice medium size island, and some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, malty, hoppy, with some pretty nice toastyness, slight cherry, spicy. The taste is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a pretty nice touch of toastyness, cherries, spicyness. Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty well, with a pretty nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer.

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy lacing on the glass. It smelled of caramel, toffee, bread crust and floral notes. Sweet caramel, toffee and a grassy bitterness.

cool to see something more traditional from these guys, definitely not what they are known for, so i was especially impressed with the quality here. a really well refined, drinkable, authentic german lager for the season, well made and something to consume in volume. a slightly richer looking deep orange color, into the amber range, beautifully clear and with more than an inch of airy wispy white head from the tap. the nose is baked and hearty but drier than many, some familiar lager yeast in play, nice minerality, a toasted warmth, light honey and toffee notes, very mild noble hops, and just a little squeeze of citrus to it as it warms a little, pleasant and balanced. the flavor brings good malt depth, from bready to nutty, a hint of hazelnut or something, pretzel, and some long boiled concentrated character, but its also super clean and tidy, without a lot of residual sugar, feels patiently lagered, and overall is smooth and easy with good carbonation, a fast finish for being so malt driven, and pretty quintessentially german. a little bit unexpected from weldwerks, glad the execution is at such a high level, seems like they can do it all. this was an ideal beer to have with a pizza right out of the oven and good company!

16iz can from Boise Co-op. Dark amber pour, airy off-white head settles out fast. Toasty malt aroma, sweet. Taste is malty and sweet, pumpernickel, tingly finish.

draught
Medium orange with amber and chestnut overtones, for the look. Very light aroma of medium toast, caramelized malt. Thin, slight medium toast wood tinge, leading to medium roasted grains and malt, for the taste, with a very mild, woody finish.

It's a decent Oktoberfest, but this style is not their strong suit. You go to Weldwerks for Juicy Bits and the million variants of juicy IPAs. I applaud them for trying something that isn't in their wheelhouse though. It was a touch too hoppy and not quite malty enough for me, though that ratio improved as it warmed up in the glass. I wonder if they'll try this again next year, but I'm glad they gave it a go in any event.
