We're always jazzed when Other Half Brewing Co. comes to town, but this one might take the cake. The proverbial broccoli cake. Extra Extra Broccoli is an 8.3% Hazy DIPA mash-up of our beloved Extra Extra Juicy Bits and Other Half's flagship Double Dry-Hopped Imperial Hazy, Broccoli, and the result is a glass jam-packed with notes of papaya, mango, light citrus, and a hint of pine…and quite possibly one of the best Hazy DIPAs of all time.

Look: Dense, glowing haze in the orange-gold range, almost opaque. A soft, off-white cap forms easily and hangs around, leaving scattered lace as it settles.
Aroma: Big tropical lift right away: ripe mango, guava pulp, and melon skin, backed by citrus zest and a subtle dank, green hop edge.
Taste: Juicy up front with waves of mango nectar, pineapple, and tangerine. Mid-palate brings a gentle hop snap with hints of pine and citrus pith, keeping the sweetness from running wild.
Mouthfeel: Plush and creamy with a medium-full body. Carbonation is smooth but active enough to keep it from feeling heavy. The 8%+ strength stays well hidden until later.
Overall: Bold, saturated, and well-balanced for a hazy DIPA. Loaded with fruit character but still structured, this one drinks dangerously easy and delivers exactly what the name promises.

Hazy light orange. Citrusy and light tropical hop aroma and flavor. Much prefer the Other Half Broccoli but this is good. Nice balance with light bitterness. Medium bodied and lightly smooth.

Hazy amber body with an a sized white head that settles down to a long lasting disk. Aroma: lots of citrus mostly grapefruit & lemon, grass & hops. Barely sweet & bitter. Flavor: tropical fruit, mango, tangerine & a piney finish. I didn’t find any broccoli & that’s a good thing. Thin body with plenty of carbonation & a long lasting tongue warming effect. Overall: the only way I’ll ever consume broccoli.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, white head of fluffy foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of grapefruit, orange, guava and caramel. Great tropical fruit taste with a toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Very nice nose. Sweet citrus, lightly grassy.
The flavor is impressive from a tulip glass: mango and pine hold sway over the papaya with an overall biting zest.
The mouthfeel is that of a DIPA and finishes crisp with a piney bite. Oh, and good lacing all around.

16oz can, adhesive label. Stamp on bottom lip is 'EEB-010 09/05/25', about ten weeks in the can. From the 2025 Big Beer Box.
Hazy, deep gold colored body. Thin finger of white head that slowly recedes to a soapy cap and high reaching ring. Leaves behind webs and horizontal rings of lacing.
Aroma of papaya, mango, pineapple, orange, and slight pine. Deep into the nose gets catty.
Taste is intensely sweet, with hop flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, papaya, green melon, and bits of onion and mint. Late arrival of bitter pine. Over-juiciness in the aftertaste, before a vegetal dankness takes over.
Fuller mouthfeel, with slight slickness and stickiness combined. 8.3%ABV is felt more in the gut than a burn on the tongue. Fruit sweetness covers up any more than moderate bitterness. Hop flavor burps. Very good carbonation.
Very expressive in the nose and for flavor, but the higher ABV% creeps up quickly. Time in the can brings maturity more than hop degradation - not green but rather ripe juice. Shows intensity throughout.

11/16/25 - (Can, Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased via the Beer Advocate Fall 2025 Big Beer Box. 16 oz canned 9/5/25, can stamp EEB-010. 8.3% ABV Hazy Double India Pale Ale. Keep cold, drink now, dialed-in beer. Brewed & Canned by Weldwerks Brewing Company, 508 8th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado.

Appearance: Poured about 2/3 of the can into a shaker pint glass, yielding a generous creamy bubbly egg white head that lingers for several minutes over the a bit darker than a pineapple orange juice base. Looks good for the style. 4.25

Aroma: Strong and pleasant tangerine and citrus front and center, peach and pine emerge a few minutes later. Excellent. 4.5

Taste: More controlled than the aroma, a nice balance of citrus, tangerine and pineapple offset by a pine. A little lemon and mango as a dive in a bit further. Nice fruit basket. 4.25

Mouthfeel: Nice balance between the wonderful sweet flavors and a pine bitterness that keeps everything in proper balance. Drinks easier than the 8.3% ABV, but gets stronger as I continue. Bursts of sweetness at times, light watery body buoyed by sweetness and gentle sustained carbonation. Pineapple, citrus, pine finish. 4.75

Overall: Would pick up more in this style if they turned out like this well brewed collaboration. Many flavors come together well, two breweries which take pride in their work. Thank you Beer Advocate for including this offering! 4.5

16oz can, $5.59 at BevCo. 8.3% ABV per the can. Canned 09/24/25. Drank 11/16/25.
Per the website:
"We're always jazzed when Other Half Brewing Co. comes to town, but this one might take the cake. The proverbial broccoli cake. "
No specs or ingredients per the website.
Extra Extra Juicy Bits is hopped with Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops and is 8.6% ABV
Broccoli is hopped with Mosaic, Mosaic Cryo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Simcoe Cryo, Strata and is 7.9% ABV.
So there you go.

Pours out to a turbid medium orange, forming a foamy white head with poor retention but decent lacing. Carbonation is about 2.2 carbs or so. Aroma of peach nectar, overripe mango pulp, pineapple, catty, dank and mild pine. Mouthfeel is very rich, very smooth, medium dense bodied, lightly syrupy, juicy with a modest acidity and astringency...quite a bit more than Juicy Bits which has pleasantly low acidity and astringency. The taste is of over ripe peach and mango pulp, bruised orange, pineapple juice, a moderate amount of diesel....definitely catty and dank. I'm not getting lime or lemon like some tasters. Bitterness is medium which is accentuated by a mild vegetal bite. Belches are definitely catty and dank. Alcohol is not apparent in taste, but I do feel it halfway through the can. No off flavors or aromas. No signs of oxidation.

This is interesting to see what Strata, Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe added to Juicy bits and the added dank, cat and diesel is definitely noted. I kegged a NEIPA tonight with 14oz of hops/5 G and I wanted a few beers to drink for comparison. My brew had Nelson and Simcoe but also Wakatu, Mosaic and Mandarina. I can definitely see how the hops in this changed Juicy Bits from fresh orange/pineapple/mango/peach (which I prefer) and added catty/pine/dank notes to the mix, which is a nice mix up but a bit much for every day drinking to my palette. I'm glad I picked it up and learned a bit from this. A very nice hop showcase and very well brewed.

Pours a full orange with an opaque translucency. Head a few fingers of white foam. Aroma is thick tropical fruits, delivering notes of papaya, mango, pineapple, and orange zest. A little doughy malts poke through too. Tropical fruits smell more broad than focused. Flavor profile is papaya, grapefruit, mango, and pineapple with a little squeeze of lemon zest. Doughy malts are present, but pretty darn light. Mouth feel is medium in thickness. Texture is creamy with a pillowy feeling. Overall, a really remarkably well rounded NE IPA for being available on the shelf. Part of that could be that this is a new release and thus only fresh examples are available - but if one can find this fresh, it is a stellar option.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 16oz can.

Poured
A: Pours a thick and super hazy yellow orange hue with 1-2 inch frothy/bubbly white head with excellent retention.
S: Mango cream, passion fruit, key lime, orange, sweet grapefruit, and a very subtle touch of pine in the background.
T: Mango cream, sweet grapefruit, orange, passion fruit, soft pine, key lime, and sweet lemon.
M: Medium body. Moderately thick and juicy feel. Soft and creamy. Layers of tropical and citrus sweetness. Restrained bitterness. Lingers nicely on the palate.
D: An amazing hazy DIPA, which is saying something these days! Excellent balance and hop expression. A joy to experience! Seek it out!
