Thank you guys for bringing this to my birthday lambic share. What a special treat!

 

 

draft pour at the SP Cellar 5th anniversary. pours a beautiful light red with some white bubbles here and there. smells of grape must, funk and a little acidity. taste is smiles with neither the funk or the grape taking the lead. mouthfeel is a little on the thinner side but nothing to complain about. really tasted fruited lambic.

 

a beautiful red wine grape lambic here, impressively mature and complex, amazing to try it from the tap! its gorgeous red wine colored beer, maybe a shade more pink to purple, softer, feminine looking, with a short but dense ring of white foam that settles out pretty quickly and a little haziness to it. the color is intoxicating. the grape wild beers have had my attention, and this is really enticing in the nose, mouthwatering cantillon lambic underneath is evident right away, perhaps a little less sour immediately than some of their others i have had in the past, but with that stereotypical lambic funk and depth. the grapes are crazy in here, almost candied at first, then tart from the skins, and finally a little sweet, unexpected, but they linger long here, notes of rose hip, ripe plum, and fruit punch. almost covering up some of the nuance of the base beer, but i can still pick it out because i know what to look for, i could see how this could seem less complex and overly juicy to some, but i like it being more grape than wine, and i love how its varietal specific in the flavor. a little less carbonated than it could be. cool beer, they all are from these guys obviously, but this was a treat!

Ruby with a burnt orange hue. White head.

Red grape and red wine notes. Almost tastes more like a wine than beer. Red seedling comes to mind, but I'm not an expert. Tannins and oak. Very soft. Nice carbonation and feel. Excellent.

Almost more focused on the fruit skin with black pepper, wine barrel, and tart acidity bringing in the complexity. Little too acidic for me on the finish, but could be mellowed with age. Funky yeast has a bit of the yogurt taste to go with the fruit on the smell. Good lambic, would have again gladly, but cantillon does better ones

 

A 750ml bottle at the brewery, 2017 vintage. Poured into a Cantillon taster glass.

Appearance: A clear ruby purple red colour, with a one finger pinkish head that dissipated fairly quickly and left sparse to no lacing.

Aroma: Lightly tart, red wine, grape and strawberries.

Taste: Lightly sour and tart, lots of red wine qualities, grape, strawberry and mixed berries.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with low carbonation.

Overall: As close to red wine as I’ve ever tried in a beer. Good aromas and flavour.

 

 

 

 

 

Pours a dark red to lilac color with a bubbly lacing at the rim of the glass.

Smells of truly ripe red wine berries, which got a wooden note and a hint of fruity blueberries to them. There are some lighter, bright strawberries joining in, getting countered by a sweet mead quality.

Has a medium mouthfeel it, drinks fairly smooth with a lower carbonation to it, almost creamy at the end, with a gentle effervescence to it.

Tastes of prickly, pungently sour and fruity red wine grapes, offering a peppery, fruity peak. This blends very well into a slowly enhancing funk accompanied tartness. Has an earthy middle part with an effervescent, soothing moment to it, allowing a sweet berry fruitiness to settle in and unfold on an aqueous silkness. Finishes a little bit more lively, with a late carbonation spark and a subtle sourness, gently embracing the grapes.

Great grape lambic, offering a complex flavor diversity, resulting mainly from the fruit, which is able to unfold in the best possible fashion, since the lambics sourness remains in check the whole time, emphasizing the unique, fiery taste of the fruit.
