Sparkling, crisp and highly refreshing, this is a beer of elegant simplicity. Brewed with the finest malted millet and California-grown brown rice, then kissed by Noble German Perle hops for a light bitterness and classic floral aroma. Perfect for those new to craft beer, or for serious beer aficionados searching for an easy-drinking break from more intense and aggressive brews. 18 IBUs

12 oz can born 12/19/25 into a Becher.
L: Pours clear light gold with no head, edge foam, a few large carbo bubbles, edge foam disappears, no lacing.
S: Distant grains, a hint of sweet corn. Quite simple.
T: A light bite of herbal hops then very pale malts, light pear, a hint of dill dough (that's right kids), fruit zest, sea salt. It has a long bitter resinous zesty finish that has a whisper of smokey grains and a hint of corn in the aftertaste. It almost has a brine-like quality.
F: Crisp then dry, medium-light bodied with a medium length dry finish.
O: Very curious. I wouldn't expect the level of dryness by it's appearance. Malts are well placed with Noble hops and then Perle hops bring bitterness which lingers. Grainy overall. The finish dries my tongue. It is good in its style.

Poured into a wide mouth, grip shaped goblet: color is gold, clear/transparent, no head.

Smell mixed grain, maybe toast, light hop with a lemon and zest note.

Taste is neutral grain flavor, cereal like, 'zippy' taste from the hops or yeast finish with lemon and zest like note.

Mouthfeel is light/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, lower bitterness.

Overall an interesting beer - somewhat soda like in some aspects but a grainy enough flavor to bring it back to beer reminiscent.

Golden pour with a bubbly white head that doesn't hang around too long. The nose is slight, almost not there. Flavor has a bit of zing! to it--lemon, floral, a bit of melon. Not a bad gluten free effort. As these beers go, you could do a lot worse.

DATE: May 21, 2022... OCCASION: celebrating Joey's twelfth birthday in the ninety-degree heat... GLASSWARE: Rare Vos shaker... this pours a sizzling golden body rife with effervescence, large white bubbles that build a half-finger of roiling white head... crispy cracker, lemon zest, light tobacco, banana, and melon--quite soft and ineffective in its affect.... rinsing, soft, refreshing, though its palate is not very substantial... its flavor profile is definitely a combination of melon, flower, and tobacco... lemon, ... there isn't much of a backbone to this one, and though that isn't its goal, it would be nice to a bit more staying power in its finish... that said, so thankful for serviceable GF breweries like Ghostfish.... a thin, refreshing version of the style...

The first thing I thought when I poured this nearly vertical from the can to the glass was, “This looks like the apple juice we gave our son” when he was a little boy, including the head that was white with HUGE bubbles that looked a bit like bubble bath soap before they disappeared in seconds.

The nose has some sweet corn notes and there’s a nice floral aroma as well. That floral note really shines on the taste, combining with the sweet corn to produce a flavorful, light bodied beer that is very drinkable.

12oz can purchased off the shelf as part of a 4-pack for $13.99 ($3.50 each). Canned on 7/13/21, so this is 3 months and a day old. I picked this up for a friend who is gluten-free and kept one for myself to try and review.

Look: Pours a very pale straw yellow color with a faint haziness. Effervescent sparkling bubbles and a small but compact and creamy looking white head that slowly reduced to a very thin layer.

Smell: This smells pretty good to me and if I didn't know that it was a gluten-free blonde ale, I would have thought that it is a pilsner or Kellerbier based on the aroma. Has a bit of lager funk (I wonder if they are using a lager yeast as is common in making blonde ales), grassy notes, and nice lemony notes with lemon zest, lemon juice, and lemon drop candy aromas. A mild crackery note too. Smells just mildly bitter. There's also a lot of fruitiness and floral notes in the aroma - reminds me a bit of white grape must.

Taste: This is pretty good. Totally crushable! The lemony notes come through nicely on the palate and the beer is crisp and refreshing. Something interesting about this is that there is a bit of an acidic lemon juice flavor that I like but some people may not enjoy. The finish is moderately bitter and dry. Definitely has a nice Noble hop character - grassy and mildly peppery.

Feel: Body is very light (makes sense given that it is brewed with only rice and millet malts). It's a bit fizzy and it feels appropriately carbonated.

Overall: This is my second gluten free beer review. I liked the Ghostfish Grapefruit IPA, but I think that for a gluten-free beer this is a more authentic beer product. I haven't had many blonde ales, so I'm not sure if it's true to style; to me, this tastes like a German pilsner style beer even though this is brewed as an ale. The biggest compliment that I can give this beer is that it doesn't taste like a gluten free beer!

Aroma is husky grains/malts, berries/fruit and a hint of earthiness. The flavor is husky/earthy grains, fruit/berries and a very slightly tart/smooth finish.

Medium gold body, bright and clear; lively carbonation; thick and frothy white head; sticky rings foam cling to the glass. Sweet and herbal aroma. Sweet and fruity taste; pear; cider-like; not much bitterness. Medium body; coarse on the palate; semi-juicy with a rather dry finish.

Trying to be a good host, we're having some neighbors over that have gluten-free diets. I've never had a gluten-free beer that appeals to me, and this one is no different. But trying to keep an open mind, it's not bad for what it is. The can lists millet and rice as the grain base. For me, the beer is just too sweet for a pale ale, and the cider taste just doesn't work (for me, at least). Well, it is what it is. I hope our guests finish off the rest of the beers, otherwise I'll down them over the coming months. An okay beer.

Generally good, but a bit bland compared to the other ghostfish beers. Easy drinking but tasted a bit sweet like a regular gluten free beer typically does.

Served in nonic. Poured a lightly hazy medium yellow color with 1/4 inch of white head that had low retention and OK lacing.

The aroma of the blend of alternative grains used in this brew was pretty interesting, not the same generic malts in most blondes, and the floral hops shone through nicely.

The flavor aspect was the same, an interesting blend of grains, and gentle hops.

The body was the typical light-medium of the style, and had a dry finish.

Drinkability was good, you could have a couple without getting bored. Overall, a nice little brew. Worth a shot if you see it.
