real solid pumpkin ale, weird as it is to be drinking this in january, i liked it a lot, well past its season, whatever, its doing just fine. roasted squash is a big part of this, even though it is spiced, and its a real light brown ale as a base, nuanced on the grain side and just right for all thats happening in this, yum. nice garnet color with some shine and a thick half inch of tan head with nice permanence. this smells roasty, nutty, and caramelized without being overly sweet. it has spice layers of nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove to me, maybe light vanilla and maple, but its not overdone, i get the sweet cooked pumpkin flesh among the grain in the nose too, really appealing, earthy, organic, definitely a little cozy too. a dusting of cocoa in here in the flavor perhaps but its light as brown ale goes, more kilned and baked malt notes than classic brown ale depth, raisin, leather, fig, spice cake, tasty autumnal spice, a butternut squash note, subtle white pepper, an almost belgian candy sugar note, medium body as these go, not overly sugary but with a long back end. great carbonation, real drinkable, i could make a day of these in the fall, tons of flavor and nice low alcohol, a little strange this time of year, but this cannot be denied, a clever and delicious pumpkin beer, real well done. this place is great, neat spot, cool beer list, fine service, ill be back for sure.
