Took a pour of this at BeerNV. Wasn't super impressed. Just added the beer to the database, and I'm gonna write a review for it because I'm not a total sociopath.
Pours an amber color like a shout out to yesteryear's ipas, but there is a neo aspect of this beer that isn't a throwback, and that is the "milkshake" designation I loathe. Is that why it seems dark from yesteryear but is actually part of today's questionable scene? Shit, I liked more when they sold Sculpin IPA as if it was their house ipa. 1/3" off white head. Aroma lacked hops, but wasn't oversaturated in lactose either. I mean, for a "milkshake" ipa it isn't super sweet and disgusting.
The taste was alright, there was more of a hop influence finally, and the lactose/milkshake aspect is pretty minimal. The hops don't jump out and proclaim themselves, its just a caramel and pineapple residual sweetness and mild hop presence for the most part. The mouth feel isn't dry, drinks heavier than its lower, so low it might be outside style guidelines abv.
This far Depot has made a good wild ale w raspberries, but I'm still looking for a good ipa from them.
