Picked this up in International Falls, Minnesota when I was up there not too long ago. Never had anything from Voyageur before and this was a decent first impression from them, as it was an enjoyable IPA that felt more like an American Pale Ale. Surprisingly, I thought this would have more pine in it, given where it's from and the label color, but this still went down easily on a cold winter's night!
Indeed, this was old as there was sediment in the can but then again, I took this for a tour around the country before reviewing it tonight. Brassy, hazy, and full of fine bubbles, this had plenty of full head topping it off as the lacing left behind was in the form of extensive sheets that bled down to the next one. A good amount of caramel and tangy citrus was in the nose as there was lemongrass, grass, light spice, and earthy hops in the taste to round this out. Balanced and mildly carbonated, there was a nice burn left behind each taste as it left me wanting more and thus ensuring that I'd finish this off quickly.
This felt like something out of the left coast even though the label was in the colors of the Minnesota Wild. With a low alcoholic presence and mellow array of flavors, this would be something I'd reach for when heading out to the lake during any time of the year. Everything meshed well together as this beer was indeed, Minnesota nice - even without a date on the bottom of the can!

Pours a clear orangish, golden color. 1 finger very frothy white head. The head retention is excellent.
The nose has a nice, pleasing hop aroma. More of a citrus than pine.
Taste, is a bit mellow up front, then the flavor from the hops kick in. I really get orange from the flavor.
The hops linger like crazy. My throat feels like I drank some orange juice.
Very tasty, and fairy easy drinking IPA.

T: Follows aroma, but not quite as good. Dry cracker malt.
M: Light body. Soft citrus sweetness. Mildly dry and bitter throughout.
D: Nice session brew with lovely hop aromas.

On tap. Poured out a clear, golden color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of orange, pine and toasted caramel. Sweet citrus bite up front with sweet caramel and medium bitterness.
