Was up in GM in early May and stopped in for a quick bite...the beer here usually ranges from okay to very good but not really great, so I decided to give this one a whirl. It was a nice surprise: solid and to style, with nice slightly sweet bready, toasty and even a little nutty malt. Kind of crisp on the finish, but very low bitterness and not much hoppy liveliness. If I was guessing the abv blind, I'd guess about 6, so... that's a bonus. Basic, restrained (for the style) and down the middle of the road, but well executed. I enjoyed it.
Also: seems like there are a lot of good doppelbocks being made these days by the breweries of MN. This one doesn't stand out from the crowd at all, but that's not a knock because I think the general level of the crowd is pretty solid.
