-ebony tap pour with a nitro-like foam cap. The aroma is faint. A bit of chocolate and toasted malt are noted.
The flavor is similar. I’m not getting the expected rye snap. This may have been cellared awhile.
The mouthfeel is very smooth. The body is relatively light.
This is pleasant.

Had it on tap into a British pint at a Long Island beer bar. Rich dark brown color with good head and lacing. Sweet dark toast with a bit of rye spice. Went great with the bratwurst I had for dinner!

A: The beer is clear but very dark red in color (black when viewed from afar). It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate amounts of spicy rye and roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste starts out having flavors you would expect from a porter, having flavors of roasted malts and cola and finishes with spicy rye.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a very unique hybrid between a porter and a rye beer.
Serving type: growler

On draft at home. Pours a dark but not opaque brown. Good head, and definitely not filtered. Was a little worried that the chocolate would be too much, but it is almost perfectly balanced with the rye. Great effort by this new NYC brewery.
