Pours a dark chestnut brown, nearly black, color. A large foamy tan head retains well.
Aromas of coffee and vanilla dominate the notes accentuating notes of dark toasted, nutty and biscuity malts. Aromas of dark chocolate, orange, cherry, raisins , tea leaves and wood.
Opens malty sweet with notes of chocolate, biscuit and rich toasted malts.
However, it's well balanced by the bitterness from the roasted malts and earthy woodsy hops. Complex with notes of smoothly roasted coffee, vanilla, dark fruit, and lots of woodsy and tea like spices.
Full bodied and mouth coating, yet easy to drink . Very smooth and creamy. The finish is dry with lots of toasty notes. The carbonation is moderate to gentle.
I really enjoyed this stout, somewhere between an extra strength stout and a lighter imperial stout. I would have again, except that this brewery has unfortunately closed down.
