Notes:
Released in Nov 2015. Tropical & Juicy, India Pale Ale brewed with Grapefruit Juice
Aromas of floral citrus and mango dominate this release. While the flavor leads with a burst of bright papaya, pineapple and tangerine, and finishes with hints of spice from the hops and a clean, sweet malt undertone.

16oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'FRESHEST 01/27/23' (sampling this a little past the best by date).
Deep gold colored and slightly cloudy body. Not much of a head upon pouring, with a skim cap and ring after a couple of minutes. Leaves behind a very thin ring of lacing.
Aroma is dull with floral hops, some citrus, and sweet malt.
Taste is pineapple, mango, and citrus fruit. Has a sweet malt base. Jam-like, similar to marmalade. Has a spicy note. Sweet fruit preserves in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel with some syrup. Some numbing of the tongue. Okay carbonation.
I think this is a little past prime but still has an expressive set of juicy fruit flavors.

I actually confused best by date with canned on date so I drank this a few weeks before the best by date. I did put it in the freezer for about 5 minutes to cool it down more than I would normally do for a IIPA but I did want it to be overly sweet. Poured into a Port Brewery Tulip which is certainly appropriate.
Looks like a classic West Coast IIPA, a dark golden hue with a thin head dissipating quickly. Smell is a sort of generic juicy/fruity sweetness. Quite nice. The one fruit I can really pick up is ripe papaya. Taste is mostly sweet malt with a continued hop presence. Hop taste begins with that sweet papaya and flows all the way to a somewhat bitter and drying backend. Feel is substantial. Coats the mouth and lingering. Overall it's as good as I remember it (it has been a few years now). There's no false advertising here. It's a big, sweet and juicy IIPA that is an enjoyable slow sipper.

16 oz can with a "best by" date of March 2022; who knows when it was brewed. Poured into a goblet. Amber colored, clear with perhaps the faintest haze. Points off on looks because the head literally did not last more than 10 seconds and there was not much in that first 10 seconds. Virtually no lacing either. Taste and nose were both hibiscus and tropical fruit, mainly mango/papaya, less pineapple, really no citrus that i could pickup. Not very bitter. Nicely balanced with malts. Heavy side of medium body, gentle carbonation. Overall I like this one, but it is too bad it has such uninspired looks

Calling this offering “Tropical and Juicy” is like naming a steak “Tender and Succulent.” Like, if you are going to go big and braggadocio like that you better deliver. Now, does this one show up even during rain, sleet, or snow? I think so. It hits the mark like that one guy who is always at the pub and is way too good at darts. So, coming full circle, I would say that we aren’t talking Angela Lansbury world class here, but the beer still passes the audition.
Do your best, my minions, I believe in you.

Enter the contents of a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug and observe. The color is a shining light copper-dark amber that is surprisingly on the translucent side. It's not generous with head, lacing, nor aroma. Expectations aren't running too high. That's a good thing, so now its not much of a fall. The best aspect about the taste is the hops. They're there in full force and complex, although not at all "tropical and juicy". This is a well, maybe very well, hopped IPA missing a backbone. Points removed for a misleading name. That's unfortunate because those that like a nice IPA with a pronounced dry hop presence will probably pass on this, something they'd truly enjoy. Without knowing its name, this review would go higher.

I got a can of this beer from my local beer store just around the corner. It poured a mostly clear copper with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had dank citrus peel notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical fruit peel presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

This is a fantastic brew, the taste and feel are the best components, mine was a little muted on the nose, I could only imagine how good this would be on tap. A very full bodied IPA that has everything in balance, I don’t associate this with a tropical IPA, however

Let's get into this one. Pours a delicious looking clear golden tan with a nice creamy cap. I get the juicy and tropical notes, with hints of pineapple and some guava. There's a bitter sweetness, touched by some sticky pine that leads to a nice finish. This was a good one.

Pint can - Freshest by 5/31/2019 stamped on bottom:
Pours yellow with a creamy white head. Trailing lace.
The smell is tropical - mango, pineapple, some orange. Slightly musty.
The taste is of robust tropical notes - fresh papaya, mango, guava - some orange comes through. Bready background. Alcohol well-hidden (with just a slight hint of black pepper). Long, refreshingly bitter finish.
Very smooth. Juicy,
An Imperial IPA with strong tropical character. An Imperial IPA that drinks like an IPA. Very enjoyable!

L: A slightly opaque golden dark-orange, with a fair amount of moderately off-white head at the initial pour, it dissipates down fairly quickly.
S: smells tropical, but not as much as I was expecting, given the name and the information from the brewer. Smell also had strong piney aspects.
T: like the smell, it was tropical, but not as much as expected, there was definitely still a strong piney backbone to the hops which was balanced with the tropical flavors. I was hoping for a truly all-out tropical beer, was a bit disappointed. I could name several other beers more tropical than this one. It terms of flavors, there is a very strong papaya taste to the hops, which, it must be admitted, is quite tasty. After taste is not super great though.
F: Medium body. Average carbonation. A bit sticky.

A- Tallboy pours into a goblet with a just about clear deep golden body. The head is an inch high with a very fluffy and frothy consistency. Fairly good head retention. The lacing is spotty with a few small sheets.
S- Well rounded aroma but perhaps not exactly the most tropical and juicy as the title suggests. There is some juice and hints of tropical fruit like mango but the brew also packs a lot of pine, softer citrus like tangerine and floral hops. Bubble gum, melon, cantaloupe, apricot, peach, dank weed, herbs and orange comes to mind. A decent suggestion of sweetness which might interfere with things on the palate...
T- The sweetness expected ends up being just a hint but the hop profile does take a big turn compared to the aroma. Most of the softer things like the tropical and stone fruits are toned down and grapefruit comes out as massive on the palate. Juicy and zesty ruby red grapefruit leads into oranges, tangerine, mandirin, slight mango, dank herbs, bubble gum and resinous pine. Citrus forward.
MF- Fluffy texture to the light-medium bodied brew. The carbonation is at a very high level. A gripping grapefruit peel bitterness lingers in the finish.
A bit juicy but honestly not all that tropical with citrus really coming on strong on the taste buds. Good but just isn't as bright as the best IPAs.

Light copper color with little head poured from tap. Very “tropical” fruity scents mirrored by slightly juicy citrus taste. Great mouthfeel deceiving for an imperial. This is a very well rounded dank ipa.
