473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Thanks to Kif and Alex for the gift.

Appearance - pale golden color, with plenty of carbonation and no head. Pours more like a soft drink than beer.

Smell - excessive artificial apple smell, so strong that it can't be naturally brewed. Nothing else to speak of. Excessive sweetness.

Taste - surprisingly thin apple flavoured malternative. Taste is artificial, but does taste pretty decent for an apple flavoured beverage.

Mouthfeel - some smoothness, light carbonation, soda-like feel.

Overall - is this beer? Or is it cider? Tastes not terrible but I question the amount of apples used in the brewing process. Glad I tried once, but for hardcore advocates, this can be skipped.

Serving Type: 473 mL Can

A- Bright Golden with absolutely no head. Looks like apple juice to me. The only thing it really has going for it is that it isn't clear.

S- Apple Juice. Actually, more like artificial candied apple.

T- Sweet Artificial Apple taste. Think of the sweetest apple flavoured candy you've had and this would probably be similar if not exactly like that.

M- Fairly low carbonation. Not much in terms of effervescence. Thin body.

O- Is this even a beer? Putting it in the Fruit/Vegetable category is a disgrace to other beers in the style, especially since I highly doubt there were any real apples involved in the brewing process. Great tasting Apple alcoholic beverage. Great beer? Absolutely not.

is this a beer? nice colour, no head. smells more of apples than anything else. taste like apple juice with a hint of ginger. sweet after taste. Ginger flavour disappears quickly. I'm glad I have a Guiness Blonde by my side, to wash away the taste of this beer wannabe.

473ml can poured into tulip 22/7/15

A bright golden yellow with no head or lace even after a hard dump straight down the middle

S apple candy, more sweet then jolly rancher though, I'd give it some credit if it was labeled "apple juice"

T chemicals and fake apple, or maybe the fake apple is the chemical? tastes like an overly sweet apple cider and nothing else

M thin, bubbles exist for a moment before it flattens out, lips stick together just a little

O not sure there's any beer in this one whatsoever, tastes like a shitty apple cider

WTF?!?!? I just pulled off the plastic cover and its a fucking can of William Premium Cider underneath!!! is that even legal? A wolf in sheep's clothing? never before have I ever seen that, I'm not even sure if this stuff should be listed on BA, let alone sold as an "apple ale"

Trafalgar, eh? That explains a lot. Artificial candy sweet nose that you can smell at ten paces. Artificial apple taste. Nope, can't read the label, so they could be pulling it off with real juice of some sort. Who knows? Stupid sweet with a chemical finish. A bad idea front to back. The only remote hope for this would be to pour it over crushed ice to make up some sort of slushie.

Not good.

473ml tall boy can, with stupidly difficult to read label text - don't they look at this shit before releasing it? Anyways, this is a paper brewery, with their stuff made at Trafalgar Brewing in Oakville, whose own offerings haven't exactly blown up my skirt.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with one finger (I think) of fizzy, and yeah, just fizzy dirty white head, which blows off in less than 10 seconds flat, leaving nothing in the way of lace anywhere near the glass.

It smells of mildly tart, but mostly sugary apple juice (the kind of impression you get from Jolly Ranchers), ethereal hints of pale malt and maybe a touch of corn, and no hop bitterness or flavour to speak of. The taste is more saccharine mushed (but fresh!) apples, some bready and doughy pale malt, corn cereal, a soft minerality, and still zilch in the hop department.

The bubbles are pretty low-key, or maybe just AWOL, after blowing their load like a nervous teenager at the outset, the body a so-so middleweight, as buoyed as it is by all that fruity sugar, but smooth enough, if I gotta say it. Things finish on the sweet side, natch, but with a slight drying trend, one that is still apple-borne, rather than hoppy in orientation.

While not a bad-tasting brew, I'm getting a whole lot more of a sweet apple 'cida' vibe from this one, as opposed to, ya know, beer. The titular beard may be crazy, but I'm not convinced - I'm thinking more stunned and not at all in touch with the craft beverage market in T-dot, and points farther afield, apparently.
