A different spin on a farmhouse style ale, the Napoleon is brewed with lemongrass and dark malts.
L- Dusky brown, light mahogany. Thinner head than a typical farmhouse ale. (4)
S- Some biscuit, huge lemongrass, a bit too huge I think. Some light chocolate notes as well. (3.5)
T- Malts are a bit subdued, again some big lemongrass flavors, but the big taste here is tea. I am getting a very unique, tea-like flavor, like a mild black tea almost. Very unique. (4.5)
F- Nice and light, like a farmhouse ale should be. (4.25)
O- This is not your typical saison/farmhouse ale and that is the point. It definitely challenges the senses and perceptions of what a traditional farmhouse beer should be. I am simply loving what Rockingham is doing and I hope that they continue to grow and flourish in this area and beyond.

Taster at the source.
Solid dark brown, rich caramel and chocolate notes with just enough spicy yeasty essence to keep it from being a brown ale. Solid brew.

On tap at the brewery. Sampled on March 21, 2015.
The color is reddish-amber but not very dark. Modest tan head.
The aroma is more of a dark malt character with some chocolate, cocoa, and Belgian yeast.
Medium but smooth body.
I expect tartness or sour characters in Farmhouse brews but this one is more along the lines of cocoa. That may have been the point. I liked it.
