2014 Edition.
Appearance - Pours a murky ginger gold with two fingers of bubbly white head. Lots of effervescence.
Smell - White grape/wine aroma, bready malts, grains, earthy and leafy hops, touch of earthy yeast.
Taste - Sweet white grape/wine flavour (almost reminiscent of ice wine) along with grains and malts. Not much presence from the hops.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with a lingering sweetness.
Overall - Good on Big Rock for resurrecting the Druivenbier from the past. I like the aromas quite a bit, but I was hoping for a touch of flavour from the hops. Quite sweet on the grape notes, but not too cloying.

750ml caged and corked teardrop-shaped bottle (number 2519 of 5300), quite reminiscent of Deus Brut or high-end champagne. 'Druivenbier' ('Grape Beer')? Gotta give Big Rock credit for resurrecting these esoteric beer styles in their Alchemy series.
This beer pours a clear, pale golden amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, tightly foamy eggshell white head, which leaves some decent splashy snow rime lace around the glass as the party adjourns to the next room.
It smells of grainy, somewhat biscuity pale malt, a subtle generic table grape fruitiness, a hint of lemon juice, and herbal, leafy hops. The taste is sweet, fruity white wine grapes, caramel-tinged bready pale malt, a touch of um, 'herb', and mild earthy, floral hops. A simple one, this is.
The carbonation is rather low-key and soft, after all the external manifestations, I guess, the body a pleasant enough medium weight, and actually quite smooth, with a bit of fruity creaminess. It finishes off-dry, verging on sweet, the wine grapes and bready malt seeing little counterbalance of any sort.
For a fruit beer, this performs well, even if a bit more of the grapes' inherent acidity would be welcomed with open arms. Easy to drink, and with an adequate graininess to remind one that this is indeed a brew. And, unfortunately, a rather dear one (~18 ducats), especially given the down to earth ABV.
