Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark coppery amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, citrus and piney hops, grapefruit, kiwi, celery and some pine needles. Flavor is biscuit malt, citrus and piney hops, lemon, grapefruit, a touch of toffee, fresh pine needles. Piney, citrus rind finish with solid bitterness. Listed as a Northwest IPA, but I think the malt is more midwestern in style (or old timey IPA), but just as I was pegging the malt that way, the pleasant pine kicked in and is fresh enough (almost to rival some of the spruce adjunct IPAs) that it really is Pacific Northwest tasting. The citrus is not that complex, but solid Cascade lemon and grapefruit. I liked this quite a bit and realize that I miss the maltier IPA style that seems to have given way to lighter, crisper pale malts in most NW/West Coast IPAs. I could drink this any time.
