Poured from a small growler into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, a little coffee and molasses; a little subdued. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, cocoa, hints of coffee and faint root beer in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and sharp carbonation. A nice, traditional low ABV stout with no adjuncts. Flavor seems a little mild, but that may be due to my habit of drinking mostly big BA stouts these days. Flavor is actually fine for the style. Nice roasty malts and I was charmed by the faint, but pleasant root beer notes in the finish.
