Beste Bock is a traditional German treat and a reflection of the time of year and on coming seasonal change. Only the best pick of the harvest is used for our Bock ingredients, this combined with long cold aging provided by the winter months develop into a smooth and rich experience.
A deep dark brown colour accented by a smooth off-white head. The flavour is pronounced, rich malt sweetness reminiscent of caramel paired with toffee, low bitterness and a clean finish.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Part of Cameron's seasonal 3pack.
Appearance - Dark auburn colored beer with a finger and a half of fluffy medium tan head. Moderate staying power, leaving behind a soapy tan collar and a thin film of foam on top.
Smell - Loads of malts, caramel, dark bread, molasses and maybe even just a bit of licorice.
Taste - Bready and a bit boozy up front. Some roasted malt in there as well and more subdued caramel and molasses. Some lightly bitter roasted malt in the aftertaste. The overall taste is a bit thinner than expected, but still appealing.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, lighter than expected and with less carbonation than average. Given the flavor profile here, a slightly bigger body would be welcome. Nice soft finish, but a bit of stickiness on a heavy bock is never a bad thing.
Overall - Pretty solid bock with good flavors and very good aroma. With just a bit more intensity on the flavors and some additional stickiness this would be a truly great beer.

473 mL can from the LCBO, one of three beers in Cameron's Stack Pack mixer. Coded J2221 (Sep 22 2021) and served barely chilled.
Pours a deep, clear copper brown colour with ruby red highlights; it's topped with nearly an inch of lumpy, foamy, beige-tinted head that erodes away over the course of five minutes or so. A soapy, sudsy collar remains in place, with a messy curtain of lace splattered about as well - it's a very attractive dark lager. Malty and moderately sweet on the nose - I'm getting toasted grains/wheat and bread, with caramel, date, molasses, and a faint hint of cocoa. Subtle, but appealing.
A solid bock, there's no two ways about that. I'm getting light caramel and molasses, mixed together with toasted bread, wheaty grain, some nuttiness and a touch of biscuity sweetness. Hints of fig & raisin towards the finish, which also has hints of cocoa and herbal hops preceding a bready, biscuity aftertaste with touches of dark fruit; low bitterness, moderate sweetness. Medium in body, with low carbonation that meekly brushes against the palate; feels smooth and satisfying on the tongue. The 6.6% is very well integrated, and is not much of a factor here.
Final Grade: 3.97, a superb B+. While I do love a good doppelbock, I've never had much enthusiasm for the 'regular type' - so on those rare occasions where I try a new one, my expectations are never all that high. Beste Bock not only exceeded them with ease, there's a pretty good chance that it's the best strong lager I've tried this year - it'd be a short list, sure, but this'd be at or near the top. It does have that rich malt profile you'd expect, but it avoids the pitfalls of being too sweet (my main dislike with bocks in general) or too boozy. It's unusual for me to *really* like all of the beers in any sampler pack, but Cameron's pulled off an impressive trifecta here - grab their Stack Pack while you can.

A beautiful looking beer, dark coloured with a thick fluffy head. Malty and metallic on the nose. Sweet and malty on the taste, with hints of molasses and butterscotch. In my opinion, one of the better bocks I’ve tried
