Like a rad monk, this unique beer perfectly blends traditional Belgian brewing techniques with a modern twist. Belgian yeast character is forward, accompanied by a candied fruit body and ample citrus dry hop creating a modern take on two distinctive styles. Explore a region of new beer complexity that is golden in colour and rich in flavour. Worth a trip down the halfpipe to grab one! 35 IBU

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Cameron's I ❤️ Craft Beer Vol 2 mixed pack. Coded Sep 14 2023 and served barely chilled.

Pours effervescent and golden-yellow, its mostly-clear complexion fogged up by the presence of sandy sediment that hovers throughout the body. Just over an inch of lumpy, foamy white head lasts for the better part of five minutes, eventually whittled down to a frothy collar and thin cap; a respectable swath of lacing also remains in its wake. The aroma is muted at best, giving off impressions of stone fruit, citrus, peppery spice and bubble gum.

It tastes fine: drinks a lot like a NEIPA at the forefront, with spicier Belgian yeast elements cropping up later on. Lemon, grapefruit, stone fruit and melon meld together into a muddle of fruity hop flavours, supported by notes of wheaty, bready pale malts. Peppery spice, yeast, bubble gum and floral, resiny hops round out the back end, with suggestions of stone fruit, tropical fruit and ethanol dissipating into a sweet, relatively persistent aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation that starts off spritzy, adding some bite to this brew's smooth, slick mouthfeel, at least in the early going.

Final Grade: 3.58, a B grade. Cameron's Switch 360 isn't one of the better Belgian-style IPAs I've ever come across, but it's a serviceable effort that makes for decent sampler pack filler. While the flavour profile is generally palatable, it's not very cohesive - there's lots going on, from citrus & tropical fruitiness (courtesy of the dry hops), to spicy Belgian yeast, to boozy-sweetness. Top notch Belgian IPAs can juggle all of these effectively, but this one just comes off as jumbled and clashing - plus, the mediocre aroma subtracts further from the experience. I don't mind this beer, but I'm not in a hurry for more.
