Inspired by the birthplace of lager, where beer is aged in caves and barrels for months, we draw on this profound knowledge and tradition. Using floor malt barley and CZ Saaz hops, we've crafted a bold golden structure that boasts steadfast flavour, affirmed bitterness and a floral aroma. Foreczech Czech Lager is a crushable beauty worth a trip to the penalty box! 38 IBU

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Cameron's I ❤️ Craft Beer Vol 2 mixed pack. Coded Sep 14 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear medium gold colour, producing roughly an inch of soapy, foamy white head that fades within two minutes or so. A modest collar and filmy cap remain, with some stringy lace deposited onto the glass - looks fine so far. Clean aroma of bready malts and graininess, paired with subtle suggestions of floral, spicy hops.
Not bad at all: similar to a pils, but with the hops taken down a notch... or maybe a Euro pale lager with the hops turned up a notch? I'm tasting grainy pale malts and bready, crackery sweetness for the most part, joined by hints of floral hops on the back end. Low bitterness, with a spicy aftertaste that dries quickly. Light in body, but definitely not thin - feels quite smooth and satisfying on the tongue, with lively carbonation that adds just the right level of crispness to the sip. Effortlessly quaffable.
Final Grade: 3.65, a B grade. Cameron's Foreczech is a fine lager that I'd buy again, if they opt to sell this as a single at the LCBO. Its flavour profile is understated, to say the least, but the experience for this Czech lager fan was entirely positive. It drinks like a very tame pilsener, which I suppose makes sense because this style is basically the Czech equivalent of a light lager. I don't think I'd choose this over my usual Czech choices, but it's a respectable imitation worth giving a fair shake.
