Dog Daze Pale Ale is the ultimate thirst-quencher for those long, dog days of summer. Refreshing and restorative, this straw coloured sip of summer has an impeccably balanced body with tropical notes of southern hemisphere Riwaka hops.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from their boxset at my favourite LCBO at The Roundhouse Centre in nearby Windsor. My third beer from the Oakville brewery.

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Cameron's Smile Pack; coded Feb 23 2024 and served slightly chilled.

Pours medium golden-yellow, its mostly-clear complexion fogged up a tad due to its plentiful silty sediment. An inch of loose, frothy white head fades within two or three minutes, leaving behind a tight collar and filmy cap, in addition to a narrow ring of lace. Understated aroma of doughy, wheaty pale malts and lime peel, with suggestions of orange and peach drink.

It tastes alright - grainy malts and bready sweetness overlap with hoppy notes of apricot, lime zest and orange peel. Hints of tropical fruit and peach on the back end, dissipating into a slightly earthy, resiny aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with average carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel; very drinkable, but that's its only real strong suit.

Final Grade: 3.62, a B grade. Cameron's Dog Daze is a serviceable pale ale that isn't worth writing home about. I've had considerably worse, and considerably better - it's a very middle of the road effort that lacks flaws, but doesn't exactly inspire excitement, either. I would try this again if I come across a fresh batch, but it could just as easily wind up as a one-and-done.
