Pours an effervescent honey/copper with a thumb of cream-colored head. Good Head retention & stellar lacing
S: Cakey, a little pine & loads of biscuitty malt
T: Follows the nose, more pine, a trace of orange & dryness up front. Pine & caramel, dryness & traces of citrus once warm. Finishes cakey, fairly piney with caramel
MF: Medium body, assertive carbonation, good balance, warming
This was better on draft, but more hop assertive. The canned version is a bit more 1990s. Still drinks great

12oz can from Border. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy lace. It smelled of citrus, grapefruit and maltiness. Sweet citrus with a strong roasted malt taste and sharp bitterness.

Pours a deep copper with a clear transparency. Head is a finger of off-white foam. Aroma is pronounced pine and resin, with citrus lumped in towards the back. Bready and earthy malts provide support. Flavor profile is pine, resin, and citrus that has a sweet finish. Bready malts elevate the entire flavor profile, but work to prop up the finish a little more. It drinks big, evoking memories of month old Hopslam's hop and malt profile. Mouth feel is medium with a crisp start. Afterwards, a consistent grit coats the mouth. Overall, a big, old school IPA that even allows the malts to have a moment in the limelight.
