Pours a murky brown with a finger of khaki head on top. Fair head retention with no lacing left behind. Aroma is apples, and oak with loads of sweet notes by way of caramel, molasses, syrup, and toffee. Flavor profile is largely sweet as well, hitting notes of caramel, molasses, maple syrup, and toffee. Red apples, and oak reside underneath. Despite the sweet start, it finishes with a medium-sweetness. The alcohol shows a bit at the end which also helps stifle the sugary sweet notes. Mouth feel is medium-thick, with a slightly fizzy, smooth texture. Overall, a sugary sweet barleywine that covers up its 10%+ ABV well.
