Collaboration with Double Shift Brewing Company

Made in collaboration with Double Shift, this year we brewed this deceivingly dark, fruity IPA with a combination of Rakau, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Zythos hops. Huge aromas of apricot, pineapple, pine with undercurrents of papaya. Lights Out is dedicated to power outages across the world.

Pours a murky brown, the color of the Missouri river, with a finger of khaki foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is malty up front, but quickly cuts to hops with the two alternating until the finish. Malts are toasty, roasty and nutty with hops being herbal, dank and resin. Mash-up is pleasant, leaning a little towards bitter. Flavor profile follows the nose, mixing and mashing malts together. Malts are toasty, roasty, and nutty with herbal, dank and resin hops. There is a notable hop bite at the finish. Malts are a little raw, giving this beer a little attitude. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a slightly harsh carbonation level. Overall, a black ale with a little bite.
