Released in 2016 Monk in the Park is a collaboration with our friends from Park Tavern and El Camino. This limited release is full bodied with strong notes of roast and molasses. Hints of chocolate, anise , and coffee round out this opaque ale.

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 4/22/22, had 8/2/22.

Pours near black and opaque, with a half inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of cola, malt, malted milk balls, some caramel and grapes, light Belgian yeast. Has a lightly spicy aroma. Flavors of malt, grapes, some caramel and malted milk balls, light Belgian yeast. Has a lightly spicy taste and an overall roasted flavor. Smooth, a very good lighter full body, appropriately carbonated.

A good blend of the styles, with different and distinct characteristics of both. Kinda grows on you. Best fully warmed.

Black body with brown edges topped by tan ring. Huge dark fruit, dark yeast, and slight earth in smell. Taste has great dark fruit complexity, date, fig, raisin, dried plum, with light nuts, elevated dark yeast surrounds. Simpler but great honestly. Feel is surprisingly malty and yeasty, so smooth, not heavy at all.

Received in a trade, shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black with a thin mocha head that fades to leave thin wisps.

S - Aromas of Belgian sugars, dark fruits, fruity esters, little metallic notes as well. Smells like it went more in the bottle.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, just with some almost buttery oak. Loads of sugar and Belgian notes. Esters to. There is some vegetative notes as well.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated body is thin.

O - Overall this was very disappointing. It's almost over attenuated, loads of esters. Really disappointing.
