Our Grand Cru is not so much a style, as it is a designation for a very special Barrel of Monks beer. Every year we create a completely new recipe to explore the depth of flavor of Belgian ales understanding that this particular beer may never be made again. This year’s Grand Cru is a love letter to the great Golden Strong Ales of Belgium. With a big, rich nose of caramel, orange marmalade and vanilla, it finishes with a mouthful of zesty phenolic spices. This bold and complex ale will demand your attention and contemplation as new flavors unfold in every sip. Drink this now or cellar to see your patience rewarded.

Golden cloudy pour with a small finger of white foam and abounding lacing. Smell and taste have the same elements but different ones starring vs supporting. The lead in the smell is the estery yeast with citrus and flowers. The taste also stars the estery year but now with earthy black pepper, light apple, apricot and grass. Feel is light, dry, airy, estery and yeast driven with a whisper of booze. Pairs great with wisconsin caviar (summer sausage and cheddar cheese) on the porch! The wife liked it
