This is a really good oktoberfest style festbier. Malts are spot on, get those honey-sweet notes, grainy, granola, ect. Great hop presence as well, slight citrus notes, strong bitterness although not overly assertive. Body is heavier than I'd prefer but its still really easy to crush.
Overall certainly a commendable and recommendable beer for those cooler months, one that will quench a thirst after a long day yet still have a body to help you brave that tougher weather.

If this Oktoberfest is any indication, they seem to be doing things right. Like the other Michigan fest beer that came before this one, this Oktoberfest is more gold-colored than copper. This brew has a rich malty nose that hints at chocolate. Toast and caramel flavors. It's smooth, medium-bodied, and the hops are very subtle. Overall, it's quite good.

Thanks to superspak for this one.
I always earn some points with the wife when I score Festbier.
Pours golden in color, crystal clear, and boasts a robust white head with good retention. Light lacing.
Smells of crackers malt, fruity honey, and an earthy, almost spicy note that contrasts with the subtle sweet notes.
Flavor begins with bready malt, a tinge of honey, and then a crisp, drying peppery note from the hops that tames the sweet. Slightly grassy too.
Mouthfeel is medium to light, and the carbonation is excellent. Really carries this bier along from beginning to end.
Overall, I might like a tad more malt note, I know the wife would, but this is spot on for style.

Draft beer at 7 Monks. This is an unremarkable Festbier, in my opinion.

12 ounce can into dimpled mug; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours crystal clear deep golden/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of honey, nuttiness, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity of bready malts and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of honey, nuttiness, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, honey, nuttiness, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity and robustness of bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no yeasty notes presence. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.1%. Overall this is an awesome Festbier! All around great complexity and robustness of bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very clean and rich Pils/Munich complexity; with nice noble hop presence/balance against sweetness. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example.
