On-tap served in a stemmed glass at Mikkeller Bangkok.
Jet black in color with very thick silky tan head, it stands with very good strength of retention before slowly collapsing to an eternal foamy crown and leaving plenty of sticky lacing patch and spot here and there.
Lots of smokiness in the aroma, it is peaty, charcoal, bbq-like and reminds me of smoked meat somehow. The rest is typical note of Porter with roasted, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and caramel. There is also dark bread and mild fruitiness yet some spiciness through carefully sniff.
The taste is dominated by roasted malt with only slight astringent touch. Rich in coffee and chocolate while the smokiness and bbq seem to play a bit underneath together with lightly sweetness of caramel and vanilla yet dark breadiness, the end is slight hop bitterness that discloses to wrap up together with roasted profile in the aftertaste.
The body is medium with some crispness and moderate lively carbonation through the palate. Finish is pleasantly dry. Very interesting Porter with its rich smoky profile, the aroma is heavily smoked while the taste is heavily roasted.
